9 Days – Tangier – Fez – Chefchaouen
DAY 1: Tangier
Welcome to Tangier, either by boat or by plane and transfer to your hotel in the same city. Tangier is an old port full of history since it has been used to monitor the entrance to the Mediterranean. It has a busy medina and the new city.
DAY 2: Cabo Espartel
Dedicate the morning to know the beautiful Tangier. That same afternoon we headed to Cabo Espartel, just west of Tangier through the mountain. Here it is possible to see eagles and migratory birds that fly to Spain or return to spend the winter. Visit the Grottos de Hercules just 5 km south of Cabo Esparte ring. According to the legend Hercules rested in the caves after having dug the straights between Europe and Africa.
DAY 3: Tetouan
We leave Tangier to head west along the coast and the mountain range that is on the way to Ceuta. There are good views of the sea and it is possible to go up to Jebel Toubkal, in front of the Rock of Gibraltar. After lunch, in Tetuán, continue the trip along the coast, passing the small fishing port of Cabo Negro. We headed to the mountains of Chefchaouen. This city, founded in 1471, was isolated until the early 20th century. In the region of the Rif mountains, Chefchaouen is a picturesque city painted in shades of blue, a legacy of the Jewish population that lived there.
DAY 4: Chefchaouen
Enjoy the day walking around the beautiful Chefchaouen, an oasis of peace and tranquility. Discover the medina of Chefchaouen, where you can find workshops of fabrics such as silk and wool. In the main square, with its cafés and souks, you can get good offers in the market where bartering is still practiced.
DAY 5: The Region of the Rif Mountains
Day trip through the Rif mountains to Fes. The region of the Rif mountains is still relatively unexplored by visitors, partly because it is a very remote area, and partly because of all the hashish that is grown in the fields of the hidden valleys. However, the guide will take care of taking you through some of the most virgin and authentic areas in Morocco, comfortable and safe.
DAY 6: Fes
Fes is one of the largest and oldest medieval cities in the world, which is a bustling hive of activity and commerce that is truly fascinating. Enjoy the day exploring the historic city, souks, palaces and museums and ancient Kasbah just outside the city walls.
DAY 7: Roman City of Volubilis
Leaving Fes in the morning, visit the ancient Roman city of Volubilis which is located in the foothills of the Middle Atlas mountains. You can see amazing mosaics, doors, villas and the forum. The city is so big, that it has not been possible to dig in its entirety. In the afternoon, visit the city of Moulay Idriss, and visit the mosque where non-Muslims can enter. Dinner and overnight in the Imperial city of Meknes.
DAY 8: Views of the Rif Mountains Region
We will return to the region of the Rif mountains and the city of Ksar el Kbir, to arrive in Tangier at dusk. Enjoy the last night to make the last purchases of your trip or a delicious dinner at a restaurant.
DAY 9: Tangier
Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to the airport or ferry port.
